Thursday at Fashion Week Sydney

I'm delayed beyond words! Fashion weeks was over a month ago but I've been so busy with college, work & interning! Life's been pretty hectic & MBFWA was just one small segment of it. Unfortunately Thursday was the last day of Fashion Week Sydney. I wish it could go on for months straight! Today was absolutely exhausting. I mean.. who does 7 fashion shows in 1 day?

My day started with the Clean Cut show which was at 1pm. It was a combination of emerging designers. The aesthetic consisted of minimalism, pop art colours & bohemian inspired gowns. Overall, it was quite refreshing but I had higher expectations. On the other hand, The Innovative show was one of my favourites. It seemed quite avant garde yet wearable with it's metallic sheet - like fabric.
The perspex back pack was an absolute killer piece. I've noticed that my heart starts to beat faster when I hear "Ae'lkemi". As soon as the first model walked out I thought "Yep. This is going to be great". I felt a Dolce & Gabbana vibe through the sheer lace chiffon fabric, the gold earrings & through the black, white & red tones. I would love to see women dress like this. These designs were something I'd only expect to see in the cities of fashion. Let me tell you though, It did make me proud to know that this was an Australian brand.

Next stop after Ae'lkemi was Ixiah; my absolute favourite Australian brand! Krystel Davis.. You never fail to captivate my heart. Cheesy but true! Her aesthetic is always true to "neo tribal" & she executes so effortlessly. Personally, Zhivago was a disappointment. I'd expect a collection that was original but I feel like I've seen the sequin work been overdone. I did though love the skirt & pants in one design. Those were original. I would've appreciated this collection more if it was more original. I did love the gift bag though. The Aje installation was beautiful. The music, the lighting & the set up was a great reflection of Aje's philosophy as a brand. The models were amazing but the designs were breath taking! The embellishments, the prints, the fabrics & the cuts were on point. I could see the women in Sydney wearing these designs.

Finally, Song For The Mute! For menswear, I believe that there could have been more potential & creativity thought into these designs. It was nothing new & were designs that I had seen all before. The atmosphere on the other hand was thrilling. The smoke form the ceiling & the fast paced models definitely brought great energy. Overall, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney was an experience of a lifetime & I'm so excited for next year!
